During this busy holiday season, let us not forget the paws in our community. We’re talking about all the dogs and cats being cared for in our local shelters. I-92 WLWI spotlights Humane Society of Elmore County, and Lake Martin Animal Rescue! We’re so thankful for their hard work and loving care. However, they’re at capicity and need help finding homes. Also, operation costs are high and community donations are needed. We can help in a variety of ways with adoptions, fostering, and donations of supplies and money.
Talk about people who do care, as they support our effort. I-92 thanks our sponsors of our innuagural Paws for the Holidays: MPM Feed & Seed, My Montgomery Vet, Camp Bow Wow, and Partners for Pets. MPM Feed & Seed in Prattville caries quality dog food. Camp Bow Wow of Montgomery is a loving home away from home providing a variety of services from boarding to grooming and training. My Montgomery Vet and Partners for Pets are both highly reuputable and trusted veterinarians in the River Region.
Okay, below are a few dogs and cats we’re featuring today. Visit the shelter’s (link provided below) to learn more about adoptio and/or view other pets available for adoption. Also, we’re providing a link to make a tax deductiable donation to either shelter. Plus, we’ve listed any supply needs the shelters have provided us. One more note, a major fundraiser for Lake Martin Animal Rescue is their annual Fur Ball for Valentines Day (info below). Thanks again for caring.

On to the spotlight dogs and cats!

Holly
Holly is four months old as of mid-December, about 20 pounds so should be in the 40-45-pound range when fully grown. She is a bit shy at first, but very sweet & loving.

Piper
Piper is a three-year-old female calico – INDOOR ONLY. She is one of those most wonderful momma cats who helped raise a kitten that was not hers (Lil Man who is also now up for adoption). Her foster dad fell in love with her so now we have to find a loving and wonderful forever home for her as well.

Rudolph
Rudolph is four months old as of mid-December, 21 pounds so should be in the 40-45 pound range when fully grown. Playful, sweet & loving, and does like to hear himself talk. Rudolph LOVES children! He will ignore adults if there are children present, so let’s find him a family with children he can call his own.

Frederico
Frederico is a male, three months old as of early December. Sweet, playful, mischievous & loving.

Meatball
Meatball is a 3 yr old male cat. He has beautiful long sold hair and is very loving. Meatball was taken in from a shelter who was already over flowing with cats so he could have a better chance at finding his forever home. Meatball loves to be held and would love to be a lap kitty although he does have a playful side of given the opportunity and he is great at rodent control.

Charlie
Charlie is a 2 year old Staffordshire Terrier mix. He has been in a foster home for over a year now. Charlie is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. He is good with other dogs and quickly adjust to his surroundings. He is great on property with a GPS/Boundary collar and doesn’t break his boundaries. He is very strong and excited on leash so he would benefit from some proper leash training etiquette. He walks good on a harness and loves water!

Draker
Draker is a 6 month old Neutered Male domestic shorthair cat. He came to us as a stray at just 10 weeks old. Draker is litter box trained, great with dogs and other cats. He is up to date on all of his vaccines, neutered, and microchipped as well. He is playful and extremely affectionate. Draker loves to be a lap kitty and will help you with all your daily chores.

Lady Jane
Lady Jane is an 8 yr old Lab mix. She is house trained, great with kids of all ages, loves other dogs, and everyone she meets. Lady Jane is crate trained, leash trained and great on car rides. She has been kept up to date on heartworm prevention and her vaccines before her elderly owner could no longer care for her.
