2020 Running of the Capitol 10 Miler and Turkey Burner 5K

What has become one of the biggest running events of the fall across Central Alabama has returned in 2020, the Capitol 10 Miler and Turkey Burner 5K in downtown Montgomery! It’s happening on Saturday, November 21st. Registration is open now!

Sure, it will look a little different this year to ensure the safety of all participants. Organizers have shared their plan for the event by stating, “the Capitol 10 Miler and Turkey Burner 5K will not have a gun start and instead have a rolling start so that folks can start and experience the race while providing social distancing. All runners will have a chip tracker on their race bib so that they can start the race anytime between 7 AM and 8 AM (Capitol 10 Miler) and 7:30 AM to 8 AM (Turkey Burner 5K).

We will require all participants, volunteers, and fans to wear mask in the start/finish area. We will not have awards or food vendors at the finish line so people do not congregate after finishing the race. We will have an open course with a recommended route but runners can choose a different route if they so choose. Please have a GPS tracking device if you choose to run a different route.

The Capitol 10 Miler and Girls on the Run 5K will be on separate dates and separate locations to minimize the number of participants.

Small bottles of water/sport drink will be provided on tables along the designated route. Please dispose of bottles in the garbage cans provided.

Again, this is an open course so please be aware that vehicles have the right-of-way and are much bigger than you.

We will be providing our Capitol 10 Miler medals to those that finish the 10 mile race.

The drive thru packet pickup will be located in the parking lot on the south side of Jeff Davis Street which is just across the street from the Downtown YMCA. Please stay in your car. We will hand you a bib, race shirt, and safety pins.”
