Why You Should Run the Montgomery Half Marathon or 5K

If you haven’t signed up yet for the Montgomery Half Marathon or 5K, right now could be the perfect time to join the unforgettable experience!

First off, race day is Saturday, March 9th at Riverwalk Stadium downtown. The half marathon starts 7am and the 5K at 7:15am.

Organizers say this race gives you more bang for you buck, and they aren’t kidding. The swag bag for each participant will be loaded with goodies! Among the items, a tech race shirt and finishers medal. This is for both the half marathon and the 5K. Plus, there’s a hearty meal at the end and complimentary beverages. You can even get a brewski on the house to celebrate your accomplishment!

Here’s what the race shirt looks like!

This event is much more than a race, it’s a BIG community event. Sure, the running community near and far gathers for this. But, it’s also a perfect opportunity for the beginner to at least try out the 5K. Regardless of your experience level, there will be others on the same level as you. The scenic course will take half marathon runners through the Capital Heights neighborhood, Oak Park, Alabama State University, Cloverdale, Huntingdon, and back downtown. The 5K course takes you around downtown Montgomery. Both races start by The Alley’s water tower, and finishes on the field at Riverwalk Stadium!

Just imagine the thrill of crossing the finish line! Especially, if new to completing a 5K or half marathon.
