Bill Roberts has been calling I-92 Grand Old Gospel Time home since 1979.  How did he get into radio?  Bill says:   It seemed like a fun thing to do. The first time “on the air” was in 1964 at WIRB in Enterprise. I won a contest to be a guest disc jockey. I was on the air for 2 hours on a Friday afternoon. Larry Wilkins (former Chief Engineer for Cumulus Broadcasting and The Auburn Network) was the d.j. and who showed me how to work the board.

Bill remembers having fun at recess in grade school was a highlight of his educational experience.  In high school, he was not part of any one group or clique.

In his other full-time job, Bill is a full time realtor with Lucretia Cauthen Realty in Millbrook.  And what would he do if he was not employed in either profession?  “Probably would just stay home and work in the yard.”

In addition to church and church groups Bill works with the Millbrook Revelers Mardi Gras organization. They work to bring a Family Friendly Mardi Gras spirit to Millbrook and the surrounding area.

Most memorable radio moment?   It is hard to choose one event as the most memorable. One would be being selected as the Singing News Fan Favorite Disc Jockey (Medium Market) of the Year for 2004. Another would be getting to met so many of my Southern Gospel hero’s thru-out the years. People like Jake Hess, James Blackwood, Vestal Goodman, Tim Riley, Jim Hammil, J.D. Sumner. But I think the biggest thrill is when someone comes up to me and asks “What was the answer to the Mental Floss Question last Sunday?” or “where do you get those Mental Floss Questions?”.
