Event: Senior Fintness Day to be held May 8, 2008 from 10am to 2pm. This event wil be held at Oak Park located at 1010 Forest Ave. Montgomery, AL 36107. This event will have information to inform Seniors in the community how to stay healthy, there will also be many games and free food.

Event: Springfest on the Riverwalk - May 17th from 10am - 4pm. Springfest is a community Art and Music festival that celebrates the area’s non profit agencies in a family-friendly festival in Montgomery’s Riverwalk and Amphitheater. There is no charge to the public to attend. Over 20 non-profit agencies will educate the public about their organizations, raise awareness and conduct health promotion services. There will be live music, entertainment and artists along the Riverwalk, food and fun for all ages including a Kidsfest with games, the Riverfront’s splash pad, moonwalks, gymnastics (The Big Green Bus), face painting, a rock climbing wall, a magician, Big Mo from the Biscuits and other characters that kids love. There will also be an exhibition by the Col. Biggs Waterski Show Team, boat and wake board demos on the river and as much fun as we can pack into the Riverwalk. There will be family friendly music and performances on the amphitheater stage including The Montgomery Ballet, Clint and Kip, the Southern Comfort Blues Band and the Dimensions of Praise Gospel Choir. Event: Please join the Footprints Ministry for An Old Fashioned Family Fun Day at the Waters in Pike Road, Al. Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 10am-2pm. Tickets are $10 adults and $5 children with a maximum of $25 per family. There will be an antique car show, clowns, moonwalk, dunking booth, cake walk, sack races, go fish, balloons, prizes & of course, music and food. Come support the Footprints Ministry that ministers to families of NICU infants at Baptist South & Baptist East.

Event: On Saturday May 3rd the Wetumpka Cub Scouts will hold their annual yard sale. It will be held in front of the Armory on hwy 231N in Wetumpka. All proceeds will go to help support our Cub Scout Pack. We will be there from 6am until early afternoon.

Event: Goodwill celebrates its 40th Anniversary during Goodwill Week May 12-17. There are several events going on during the week, where the community can help Goodwill promote its mission. On Tue., May 13 there will be a Benefit at Down the Street Café from 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. or close. There will be live entertainment by local artist Bo Van Valkenburg. Goodwill will receive 10% from all sales that night. Door prizes will be given out to people that attend, so come on out and help a good cause! On Thur., May 15 there will be an Employee Fashion Show at the main office on 900 Air Base Blvd. The employees will be modeling, escorted by local radio celebrities: Larry Stevens, JT and Leanne- Mix 103.3 and many others. It’s going to be an entertaining show and you’re not going to want to miss it! On Fri. and Sat. May 16-17, is Customer Appreciation Day and the stores will give back to its loyal customers by offering 15% off certain items. On Sat. May 17, Goodwill’s taking part in Springfest on the Riverwalk 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., sponsored by the Montgomery Aids Outreach. The event is FREE and it’s going to be an event filled day, with live entertainment, vendors, and several non-profit organizations on site. It’s a family event, geared toward all ages.

Event: Beginning May 1, 2008 "Bridges of Hope" offers FREE support groups to individuals experiencing trauma, grief or loss. Groups starting on May 1st include a grief support group, a sexual additions support group, a post-traumatic stress disorder support group, a "before you divorce" class, and a modified Celebrate Recovery support group focused on substance abuse and men's life struggles. Event: National Letter Carriers Food Drive- This is a national food drive where Letter carriers on Saturday, May 10th will be collecting nonperishable food donations along their routes for delivery to the Montgomery Area Food Bank. It is the annual STAMP OUT HUNGER drive conducted by the National Association of Letter Carriers - the largest one-day food drive in the nation. Please place a food donation by your mailbox on Saturday, May 10th before your mail is delivered. Your letter carrier will deliver it to their local branch and then be transported to the Montgomery Area Food Bank. Please help us help our community. Thank you!!!

Event: Boy Scouts of America-Millbrook/Deatsville Troop 19 will be having their annual BSA Troop 19 Yard Sale in front of the CVS on Hwy 14 and Main Street. This will be on Saturday, May 3rd 7am-2pm. This event is their only annual fundraiser, it helps for their budget of campouts, scholarships for summer camp, etc... Please come out and show your support by purchasing some great deals or making a contribution. If you would like to donate any items to this yard sale, items may be dropped off at the Millbrook First United Methodist Church Scout Hut, off of Edgewood Drive in Millbrook.
