How You Can Help Booker T. Washington Magnet High School

An early morning fire destroyed Building C of Booker T. Washington Magnet High School in Montgomery. In the aftermath, school officials quickly moved on preparing the former Hayneville Road Elementary School for BTW students. You may be asking, what can I do to help?

Below is an official statement from Montgomery Public Schools on what’s happening and ways to support.

Dear BTW PTSA members and supporters,

A positive note in the aftermath of Saturday’s destruction is that there has been an outpouring of offers and money, supplies, and time from our community. Here is what is requested at this time:

1. If you want to donate particular items to BTW, the collection point is the State PTA office just down the street from the existing campus. The teachers are still working on lists of what they need. We do know that the CAT magnet needs basic office supplies–paper, pens, tape dispenser, etc.

Also, on Tuesday, the teachers will be packing to move to the temporary location. They need bankers’ boxes and tape.

2. We will need volunteers to make the move happen. Brian Miller is organizing that and here is link for volunteering. Click here.

3. BTW’s FAME Board is collecting money and you can donate – click here

If you have any questions about volunteering please email [email protected].

Thank you for supporting BTW.

Also, local LOWES stores have offered to donate $5k and additional labor to help get Hayneville Road ready for BTW students. Please tell them thank you as you visit local Lowes stores.
